There are different methods of making soap, we believe the cold processed method provides the best results. Not only does it produce a smoother finish but it keeps all the goodness of our ingredients intact. It is a mixture of lye, otherwise known as odium hydroxide with butter and oils. This method allows the lye to neutralize without any outside sources of heat, generally known as curing. We allow our soaps to cure for 6 weeks before we cut and deliver our handmade goodness in packages to you. HOW TO EMPLOY THIS METHOD? After mixing lye with water and blending it with fatty oils, essential oils and natural colorants, we pour them into molds. The saponification method takes 24 hours. Once removed from the mold, it takes another 24 hours to saponify. Cutting and curing of the soaps are next. Over the next 4-6 weeks the curing process takes place, the lye breaks down the oils and water is evaporated, producing a smooth firm bar of soap. A major key ingredient used as a base of our handmade soaps is olive oil due to its deeply moisturizing as well as nourishing properties. HANDMADE SOAP VS COMMERCIAL SOAP Most of the time, the commercial soaps we see are actually synthetic detergents. Handmade soap differs greatly from commercial soap.
